The School of Art combines the best of both worlds: the resources and faculty of a large liberal arts institution and a close-knit community of students and faculty within the school.
community through frequent exhibits on and off campus, including the School of Art’s Glassell Gallery at the Shaw Center for the Arts and through the permanent and visiting collections at the LSU Museum of Art, also housed at the Shaw Center, and the Unusual Art Show, where students and faculty anonymously displayed work available for the community to purchase. After Hurricane Katrina, the LSU School of Art supported displaced artists by organizing an exhibition and through a national appeal for art supplies for children, students, and artists in need.
